Econ 840 Law and Economics I. Prerequisite: ECON 611 or 811 or permission of instructor. Uses economics to analyze U.S. Common-law system, evaluating efficiency and logic of evolution.

Goal of Class
Gain familiarity with basic facts and issues in the economics of law, and an ability to use basic economics to argue for particular legal outcomes.
Assignments: Legal Opinion Topics
  1. Property: Who Gets What Asteriods and Sunlight?
  2. What remedy or damages for cuckold?
  3. Shall we let police tag-read all cars at all intersections? Gait/face read all pedestrians? May Google do the same?
Due Dates: Grade Weights: Class Participate 5%, 13% per Quiz and paper, 17% final.
